Fontana Murata

It sits at around a thousand metres, on the SS 284 between Bronte and Maletto, inside the Etna park. From the dining room and the terrace the volcano fills one of the widest views to be had on that side of the mountain. Family-run, Sicilian cooking that starts from what's around it.

And what's around it is the point. The mushrooms come from the woods a few kilometres off, funghi di Ferla and porcini, depending on the season. The pistachio is the one from Bronte, the town in view on the way down the road. These are the two products the place built its kitchen on, and it shows they don't come from far away.
